The Experience of Growing Up with Pitbulls

It is said that Pitbulls are not recommended for kids, because they are aggressive and their temperament tends to be unpredictable, but the truth is different. In my experience I can assure to everybody that Pitbulls are really good for children, they are affectionate, and they have this behavior also with adults. Pitbulls are like any other dog, is a hype when people say that they are disproportionately dangerous.

Personally, I grew up with Pitbulls and since I was a small child, I realized that these type of dogs are isolated and suffer a lot of prejudices from people just because of the breed, many people told me terrible things like one day my dog will lose his temper and a terrible attack may occur, but in my mind all those things made no sense because my dog was my playmate, he was my best friend, sometimes I even used him as a pillow and finally he was a friend who stays there for me when I was sad, so I always thought:  How could people say such a terrible things? For children that kind of comments from adults are meaningless and only hurts a lot.

As I said in my very first post, Pitbulls are balanced dogs, they really love being surrounded by people of any age, because they love being part of the pack, and contrary to what many people think, Pitbulls love children, the reason is children have tons of energy to play with them and they do not mind playing in the sun or in the sand. This breed of dogs is really protective, they tend to love young children like their own puppies, they are strong, but believe it or not! they know how to control their strength for example when they are with babies. When people say that Pitbulls must be isolated from children, I feel very sad for them, because they are missing the opportunity to grow up with an incredible best friend.

My doggy best friend died, and he had a daughter, I raised her in my house. I thought that my first Pitbull friend was so equilibrated and charming just for a stroke of luck! I listened terrible things my whole life, and to my surprise her daughter actually has the same behavior with kids and with everybody, she is so cherishing with babies and also with adults, she loves long walks and stay around people. This situation made me realize that the breed does not matter, Pitbulls reactions to other people depend on how you are you leading their upbringing. Pitbull’s instincts for kids are love and protect them, and of course, lots of fun and games.

I would like to give to all of you some reasons to let your kids live with a Pitbull and if it is possible to grow up with them, there is no need to worry if your pet is raised properly, it means in an environment full of respect and love, so here I go:

  1. Pitbull Temperament: They are always happy and in a good mood, so if you are having a bad day, nothing better than a smile from your Pitbull and hang out together, I am sure they can cheer anyone up in a few minutes. They are therapy dogs for children and adults.
  2. Pitbulls are Cuddling: Believe it or not! even the most trained and athletic Pitbulls love to be cuddled especially by kids, they love to stay for hours being cuddled, sometimes they jump on your lap because they do not realize that they are too big and heavy, and when they are surrounded by kids, they think they are one more and behave like them. They are so cute!
  3. Pitbull Loves Babies: Pitbulls love to stay with people and, as I said, they love babies and it is their instinct when they look at a baby they instantly start kissing or trying to play. This is a natural behavior. Many attacks occur but it is because their owners train their dogs to attack humans.  It is important to know that if a Pitbull or any other dog does not like other dogs, with humans their behavior is totally different, and as all dogs Pitbulls love children.
  4. Pitbulls Loyalty: Pitbulls are super loyal, you will have a friend for life. While Pit Bulls are not good guard dogs for your household, on the other hand the good thing is they love people so much, they may intercede if someone threatens their owners and reacts if someone is trying to inflict pain on kids.
  5. Pitbulls Grooming: It is maintenance is very low. They do not need to brush or cut their hair, and their fur is not allergic. This is a cheap pet to live with it and safe your children. Pitbulls do not need much care to stay happy and healthy. About exercise is not a problem, if you are living with children, your kid and your pet, both will be exhausted at the end of the day, because they spent too much time playing.
  6. Pitbulls Health: Pitbulls are strong and very energetic dogs, a balanced diet and exercise is enough to keep them healthy. They will not be a headache. In many cases, having a dog becomes a headache because it is like another child and its owners need a lot of money for the veterinarian, but this is not the case.

Finally, as I always said, the breed does not matter, everything depends on how you raise your dogs and how much they love you and respects you, remember Pitbulls only understand the language of Love and Respect.

Homemade Cleaning Products for your Pitbull

To be honest, I love preparing cleaning products at home, the reason is simple, I think that homemade products are less dangerous for our Pitbulls, for example my dog loves her toothpaste, even I do not have with her any problem with cleaning her ears, because of the products, all of them are made with all-natural ingredients.

In my experience I have tried with many chemicals and all of them produced soreness, redness and my Pitbull began to scratch her muzzle and ears, and started to hate “cleaning time” and all this stuff makes me nervous.

The purpose of this publication today is to give everyone some recipes to prepare safe products for our Pitbulls. People sometimes think that Pitbulls are so rude in all aspects even with their resistance to some chemicals, however the reality is totally different, because Pitbull’s skin is so sensitive to sun, sand and water’s chlorine.

If you want a healthy Pitbull you must avoid products with these ingredients:

  • Ammonium
  • Chlorine
  • Glycol Ethers
  • Formaldehyde

Today I going to share with all of you some homemade products to bathe and clean your Pitbull.

Shampoo made with castile oil, vinegar and water

This recipe is for an all-purpose shampoo, could be useful also if your dog is infected with fleas or to treat skin problems like dry skin.

Recipe:

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons of castile soap flakes or also you can use 2 to 3 tablespoons of liquid castile soap. Many people prefer baby shampoo instead of the castile soap, in this case that is up to you!
  • 4 cups of hot water and stir the ingredients
  •  Finally add a spoon of white or apple cider vinegar and mix

Homemade Dog Toothpaste

Many people think that they can use the standard toothpaste on their dogs, nonetheless this is a great mistake because all the ingredients that our toothpaste has are poisonous for dogs.

With this easy recipe, you can fresh up your dog’s breath.

Recipe:

  • 1 tablespoon of chicken broth (without salt or onion)
  • 1 spoonful of powdered mint or some other aromatic herb as parsley
  • 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 tablespoon of vegetable oil

In my case my dog’s favorite one, is made with stevia for the sweet taste, here in the next paragraph is the recipe.

  • 4 tablespoons of crushed stevia leaves
  • 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 15 drops of edible aromatic oils as a coconut oil.

It is known that sweets are unhealthy and poisonous for dogs, in this case stevia is one natural sweetener edible for dogs with many benefits, so it is important to know that Stevia leaf eliminates the bacteria responsible for plaque and bad breath, also a leaf extract from the Stevia can eliminate fungi. Do not use the sachets those are with chemicals, always use the natural stevia leaves.

Homemade Dog Ear Cleaner

Pitbull’s ears are so sensitive, even if they were trimmed when they were puppies, if we use many chemicals to clean them we are triggering an unbearable situation for them , because the chemical cause itching, that is why many Pitbulls shows  aggression when their owners want to clean their ears.

There are two soft recipes to clean their ears and they will fell comfortable with it.

Recipe 1:

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon clean water

Recipe 2:

  • 1 teaspoon 3 % hydrogen peroxide
  • 1 teaspoon clean water

All those recipes are really easy to prepare at home and your Pitbull will really appreciate.

Mastering the Pitbulls Walk

Does your dog constantly pull on leash?

Walking Pitbulls is sometimes a nightmare for its owners, the reason is simple, they are too dominant, and their strength is enormous, so in a few minutes, strolls became in game in which your dog is pulling you around everywhere, simply ignoring you and your orders.

Let’s face it!  Dogs that pull the leash are quite common and cause frustration in their owners because they do not know how to handle the situation, however with small dogs many people do not pay attention to the situation, because they are generally strongest than their pets and can control them with a leash, on the other hand with large dogs like Pitbulls pulling the leash is a big  problem.

It is important to know that regardless of the breed dog, you should not allow them to pull the leash, because you must be the leader of the pack, if your dog are actually pulling you when he is walking, it means in his mind that he is your leader, so that is the reason why they starts to ignore your orders and in open spaces it could be dangerous. You must make your dog respects you.

Today I will share my experience about walking Pitbulls and how to be a leader, making the walks a comfortable situation for both, because in many cases when owners feel that they cannot control their Pitbulls, they diminish the walks to avoid problems. However, this is the beginning of other complications such as anxiety, therefore, the solution is not to stop walking your dog, the solution is to learn to manage a good dog walk and today I will share with all of you many tips that really helped me when I started to walk my Pitbull.

  • Never put the leash on your Pitbull if he looks anxious, I mean if he is barking, running in circles, crying or making tantrums. Wait a few minutes to let your dog calm and try the leash. If you do not wait until your dog is in calm, they will associate the leash with anxiety, dogs must know to be calm before go out, if they are not calm they can not go out.
  • Once with the leash on, if the dog starts again with anxiety, never take out him in this mood, your Pitbull will pull the leash and sometimes start a fight with other dogs.  Wait a few minutes, so if he is calm, both can go out. Always remember stay ahead as a leader. If you feel anxious or nervous for the situation, do not go out because it increases the anxiety levels of your dog, remember that they just replicate our behavior. Both must be calm before going out.
  • If your Pitbull tends to pull the leash, don not use an harness with him, this just helps him to pull you easier, try with a short dog leash at the very top of his neck, it will help you to guide him easily and correct any inappropriate conduct.
  • Dogs love sniff, this is for mental stimulation, so let them do this, it is their mental exercise, but never let them to pull the leash to sniff, let them sniff in places that you consider are appropriate. Never stop leading, because if they pull the leash to sniff, they will pull you to get anything.
  • If you are doing everything right and despite the efforts your dog pulls the leash, watch out for the temperature of the pavement, many times we just go out and pay no attention to this, the paws are so sensitive, so if your Pitbull is feeling extreme temperatures, he will pull the leash to run away in order to avoid this uncomfortable situation.
  • Be careful when your dog pulls the leash to approach other dogs. It does not mean that you will feel nervous with all dogs, remember if you feel nervous your dog will catch this energy and you are triggering a fight. Instead of that in my experience, is better to be calm as a leader and first ask to the owners if you can approach your dog. Just because your Pitbull is friendly t does not mean that every dog will be.  Before approach other dogs you as a leader make him to wait and with your order he can play with the other dogs instead of letting him pull the leash to make friends.
  • Pitbulls and all dogs are so smart, for that at the end of the walk if the behavior was good enough and he did not pull the leash, you can give him some treats it will help him to know that to do not pull the leash is a good thing, on the other hand never give him treats if he had a bad conduct during the walk, because in this case will be counterproductive, they will associate a bad behavior with a prize.

Hopefully with these tips, your Pitbull will be the perfect companion for a long and pleasant walk!

Do’s and don’ts of bathing your Pitbull

In my last post I said that take a shower is not the favorite activity for our Pitbulls, sometimes is because the owners  – that includes me some time ago – we usually  drag our dogs to the tub or the most common trick is give them treats or even we try to fool them with toys, however that never works, instead of enjoy the moment, Pitbulls start to hate more and more their shower time. Pitbulls are really smart and them realize that everything are just shenanigans, and the story ends in a mess in our bathroom and the whole house becomes in a disaster. If you have a Pitbull or a large dog, you will understand what I am talking about!

It is important to keep in mind that Pitbulls or any dog in general, do not hate water, this is a misconception that the big majority of people actually have. Pitbulls hate the situation that we create for them: pulls, yells, tricks and so on, become in a stressing and undesirable situation for our dogs. Hence for the next time try to follow the next advises. To be honest, all of them works perfect with my Pitbull. She loves now the water and shower time.

But how to make this experience more pleasant for you and for your dog?

Bathing Equipment

Maybe you already have a bathing kit, if it is not time to buy it. You will need the appropriate tools to wash your companion: grooming tools, shampoo & conditioner and a towel for drying. If the day it is freezing cold your may need a hair dryer.

About the hair dryer, some dogs are frightened by the sound, so if they can not stand it, please do not push your Pitbull to bear the situation, this only causes trauma. In my experience the best way to your Pitbull to get acquainted with the hair dryer is when they see that you are using it and you are enjoying the moment; your Pitbull will surely want to experience it.

Bathing Process

Help him to associate the moment with love and pampering, we can give some goodies to our Pitbull during the bath. Never get mad at your dog if at the first time he does not want to cooperate remember that this moment is only to associate it with nice and good stuff.

Be aware of your mood

Be always enthusiastic about this moment, but enthusiasm and anxiety can be confused. Enthusiasm means making the moment seem like enjoyable situation using food, games and with your attitude up. Remember that dogs perceive our mood and they imitate our behavior. Never be anxious for yelling or try to fool your Pitbull, always it is important to know that dogs are so smart and if they realize we are trying to conceive them the attitude towards the situation will change and will turn into a bad experience for both.

Special Products

Never put cotton in your dog’s ears, it can cause infections, nor use your own products on it. Pitbull’s skin is very sensitive and needs a neutral PH shampoo. If you use your own products on it, it can cause damage to the fur of your Pitbull or even on their skin and they will hate the situation. Do not use your cologne after showering, as it can cause allergic reactions. If you want your pet to smell better, you can find special products for them at a pet store.

Water Temperature

Warm water is perfect for them, never try to use the same temperature that you use for your bath, dogs have a higher corporal temperature, for that if you use boiling water you can cause skin damage and you can also suffocate them. It is better if you test the temperature with your hands and if it feels good and a bit colder for you it will be fine.

Take a break before to continuing…….

Take a break before to start with the ears cleaning, tooth-brushing and trimming nails, in my experience it is better to do this in the next few days, and I will write a special post bout this topic with some tips to manage this situations in a properly way.

Remember that Pitbull’s love mud, weeds, grass and dirty surfaces, so never get mad at them if they bathe in the mud and then arrive home in that way. Always try to be in a good mood and take them to the shower. Try not to lose your temper with them, the best advice I can give you is to simply make fun of the situation and make your Pitbull feel comfortable having the best time with his human friend.

This is the best way to make them love you and respect you!!

The scariest moment for our Pitbull

The Veterinary

If you are a Pitbull or a dog’s owner, you should realize that this is the scariest moment for our dogs and they hate to go to the vet, but why? The reason is simple, it is because our pets always associate the vet with a painful moment such as vaccination, cleaning teeth or ears and so on. At the same time, it is common to always repeat the same routine.  For example, we tend to put the leash on our dogs, sometimes we even use their muzzles and turn on our car and try to get our dog into it. The whole environment is stressful, and we create a pattern that scares our dog.

Those are the main reasons to take our dog to the vet:

  • Diarrhea
  • Inappropriate urination
  • Tooth cleaning.
  • Nail cutting.
  • Vaccination
  • Shower
  • Skin problems
  • Digestive problems

In this post I will share with you all what I experienced with the veterinarian and how to reduce the anxiety in our dogs when attending the veterinarian and make a pleasant experience instead of a more terrifying and horrible situation for us and for our friends

When we have a puppy, the first step is to choose a renowned veterinarian in our city, for that we must first do an investigation on the Internet and we can also use word of mouth for that. We must be aware that the veterinarian is the dog’s doctor, so never choose one for the price, because the life and health of our dog will be in their hands.

When we attend the veterinarian, we must take advantage of the visit and ask all the possible questions about our Pitbulls, whether it be about feeding, exercise, cleaning, vaccination and so on. Because sometimes in our homes we usually treat our dogs as family members, and we can make the mistake of giving them our medications. Please never do that because it could be dangerous, even deadly for our dogs. We must remember that dogs do not have our same system, for that reason, our medicine will never work in the same way with Pitbulls. You should always ask the expert.

It is common that when we say “vet”, our dogs begin to tremble, or cry out loud because they do not want to go, but how can we make a pleasant experience instead a traumatic moment by going to the vet?

  • Never repeat the same routine, dogs always associate situations, in this case, if you are replicating the same routine, your Pitbull’s anxiety will be increased.
  • Never use muzzles to take your Pitbull to the vet, many people think that this is a safety method, but this is incorrect. To be honest, I have noticed that this gadget tends to increase the levels of aggression because all the strength of Pitbulls is in its head and in its snout, so with the snout tied they feel without defenses and when the veterinarian takes it out , an attack may occur because the dog is nervous.
  • Never use the car always to take your dog to the veterinarian, you must use different transport methods to avoid the association with an unpleasant situation.
  • Sometimes we take dogs to the vet just for vaccination, so they are scared because sometimes they had a bad time after the injection. One option could be that the veterinarian could go to your home or do the process in a different place and not just at the veterinarian’s office.
  • Some Pitbulls love water, and others hate it, for that reason, if your dog hates water, do not take it to the vet for showers, it will associate this unpleasant moment with everything in that place.
  • Before going to the vet, try to give your Pitbull different treats, this will help them to relax and associate the moment with a pleasant experience.
  • Finally, socialize your Pitbull properly with the dogs at the veterinary center. Many Pit Bulls have a reputation that they do not deserve, a common stereotype is that Pit Bulls are aggressive, even many people tend to hide or try to protect their dogs when there is a Pitbull nearby. This is the worst, because you are causing a bad reaction in your dog towards the Pitbull and that is when a fight can start at the veterinarian’s center.

In short Pitbulls are like your mirror, so their behaviour depends on yours and how you manage the environment to make it a pleasant or an unpleasant situation!

Pitbulls and Exercise

Should they look like Hulk?

It is important to remember that all Pitbull owners must be aware of how my behavior affects my dog’s conduct. Bearing this in mind, it is important to know that if you are an inactive person, maybe having a Pitbull is not the best option or you may need to change your routine and become in a more active person. Of course, you will ask why?

The answer is simple, Pitbulls are genetically predisposed to be active, as we saw in the second post about their physical characteristics, they are all muscle tissue, hence they need constant training. That is why they are always trying to play with us, this is just to lower their energy levels. If they can not train or do some sports, they get anxious.

If you are living in a large space like a farm and surrounded by animals, this is the perfect place for your Pitbull because they will be able to socialize with other animals and remain active all day, on the other hand if you are living with your dog in the City in a house or in an apartment, things could be different, because Pitbulls tend to feel stressed in closed spaces, even if your house has a backyard. For dogs these places are just like a big gaol.

When a Pitbull begins to feel imprisoned, he tends to show anxiety, and you will witness some of these attitudes:

  1. Scratches and holes everywhere, could even scratch your furniture
  2. Increased urination
  3. Panting for no reason
  4. Crying begging to go out
  5. Urinating or defecating inappropriately even if trained properly
  6. Most irritable with sounds and with their environment
  7. Biting self mainly the tail

In my experience, all Pitbulls love to run freely to explore their world, so when you are living in the city, the following tips will be useful if you want to live with a balanced Pitbull instead of an anxious one:

  1. Exercise them at least twice a day for one hour, a good walk in the morning and another at night is perfect for them. Sometimes, the weather can be difficult in Canada, so a good option could be to use a treadmill with your dog twice a day, this routine will help them to reduce their energy levels and stay calm.
  2. Buy for them some special toys made with rubber, with which they will eliminate all the anxiety biting something.
  3. If your dog has tons of energy despite all the exercise, you could use some special weights designed for dogs, you can find a pair for them at a pet shop.
  4. If your Pitbull must spend time alone, the perfect place is a backyard with toys to entertain and for exercise him. Remember that they need physical and mental exercise.
  5. Never let Pitbull alone or chained in a small space, they tend to go crazy and that is when some attacks happen with any dog breed, lack of food and incarceration are the worst combination of all.

The average Pitbull has no defined muscles, as some pictures portrait, however, some owners for sure will love to see their Pitbull looking like Hulk.

It is important to know that to obtain these results, your dog must undergo intensive training with specialized coaches for dogs, sometimes it is way too much for them and that reduces their life time. They must take some special food supplements and vitamins that in most cases cause cancer.

To be honest I disagree with such a hard training for them, because in some cases this is a way to mistreat them just for:

  1. Be in the fad with a muscled Pitbull
  2. To show a very muscular dog
  3. To brag a dog that frightens
  4. Competition about their bite or strength

All these points make no sense and has no real purpose, so if you want to have a happy, nice and balanced Pitbull just long walks, normal games and love are more than enough for them.

Remember that Pitbulls only understand the language of love and respect!

The truth about Pitbull’s diet

Are we poisoning our dog?

Around this topic there are some myths and facts, it has been said that some fruits, vegetables, even dried fruits and dairies are poisonous for our fluffy friends.

These days it is also common to hear many myths about Pitbull’s daily diet, most people say that once a day is fine, on the other hand most people say that two or three times a day is the perfect amount, but who is right? And how can we work out the perfect amount of food for our Pitbulls? Today I will tell you, according to my experience, what is the best food and how to feed them. So, go ahead with that.

All Pitbull’s owners must be aware about the following details:

Age

Puppies should eat three times a day. When I went to the vet, he told me that three times a day is the right amount of food, because they need all the nourishing food as possible. The reason is that they are growing and are so curious to explore their environment and need a lot of energy to do so.

Puppies at this time of their lives are growing, and it is really important to feed them with high-protein and low-grain food, being meat the first ingredient. Pitbull’s are created in laboratories and they are intolerant to wheat, potatoes and corn. If you feed your dog with those products your fellow will spend a really bad time, once by mistake I fed mine with corn and she threw up all night long.

In my experience, fresh meat in the morning and vegetables are the best for them, helping them to grow healthy and happy, the lunch could be kibbles and at night the same. It is important to accustom them since they are puppies to eat natural and canned foods, the reason is because it is healthier, I have noticed that if they eat only canned foods, they begin to develop some digestive problems.

When they become in young adults and adults the normal amount of food that they need is two times a day. The exception is when they are doing some kind of special training and need to develop more muscle, in this case, the trainer will recommend some especial vitamins, but for the average Pitbull twice a day it is fine always combining kibbles and natural food.

In order to talk about natural foods, some are prohibited for our pets, so should be avoided. As we know that they love to gobbledygook whatever they are seeing that we are eating, many times the owners tend to feel guilty for not sharing with them and finally give them small pieces of food. That used to include me!!!

This act brings many problems such as overfeeding our pets and the most dangerous fact is that sometimes we can poison them with: grapes, chocolate, nuts, avocado, milk and bread, the reason is that they do not have the same digestive enzymes as humans, therefore, they can not get rid of this food and, of course, they get sick. The majority of the times, it takes us a long time to realize that we are poisoning our dogs, because it takes many days to seriously affect them.

Daily amount of exercise

Our naughty friends love to run, play and stay active all day, so it is important to feed them with a large amount of proteins and no carbohydrates, if they eat carbs, they will be poisoned and in addition will gain unnecessary weight. In this cases they tend to feel depressed and sleep too much, because their bodies do not allow them to exercise. If you are seeing your Pitbull sleeping too much and gaining weight, keep in mind that it is a warning signal, you need the help of an expert.

On the other hand, if your Pitbull is active and eats properly but is losing too much weight, it means that your pet needs additional vitamins and only an expert could recommend the best ones for your Pitbull. Never overfeed them according to your own criteria, always attending the veterinarian is the best option.

Never change the routine of feeding them, in my opinion it works like in humans, the lack of food sometimes tends to make us mad, so it works in the same way with our Pitbulls, the lack of food turns sometimes into aggression!

Length

Pitbulls are of medium length, so the amount of food that can be consumed for them is twice a day according to my veterinary’s opinion. He told me that for the average Pitbull a full cup is enough each time. In my experience, I totally agree, they show good energy throughout the day and they look great. Something curious that I have learned is that dogs never feel full, so they can eat tons, so we, as owners, are responsible for their well-being.

Pitbull’s Temperament

Assassins or Loyal Friends

I am a psychologist, and I would say that I chose this career because I was always interested in human behavior and at the same time, I was intrigued by animal conduct.

I am a proud Pitbull’s owner, it has been said that these dogs are the most aggressive, they are even called “assassins” which is a hype, the fact is this is just misinformation and confusion. Along this path I am going to share with all of you my own experience and the whole process to understand and rise the perfect Pitbull.

The basis is to understand their physical characteristics and their temperament, and every Pitbull’s owner or any dog’s owner must do an introspection to find out how my behavior affects my dog’s conduct.

Cesar Millan the most famous dog’s trainer says “I train first owners and then dogs”

Cesar Millan ‘The Dog Whisperer”

Physical Characteristics

Weighing up to around 60 pounds, standing between 17 and 21 inches, is all muscle, has a medium-length head, broad skull and flat, and a long wide snout with 60 tons per bite which makes his bite tremendously powerful.

Temperament

Dominant, affectionate, friendly, loyal to his family, loves children, love sports and has tons of energy.

Unfortunately, in the past was used as a fighting dog and is where started the misconception about the Pitbull’s, because some cruel people was used to abuse of their strength and also bad press releases started to misinform people and scared them based on exaggerations.

The fact is that a Pitbull is like any other dog, they attack only when they feel threatened or when they are raised in a violent environment. The difference with other dogs is given by their strength and the size of the snout with tons of pressure for each bite, causing more damage than a small dog, however this will never happen whit a Pitbull raised with love, discipline, exercise and respect.

Pitbull’s are like any other animal, they can perceive energy, and for them only the present exists, for instance they need a balanced owner to help them to face situations. For example, I have realized that if you feel stressed or are scared in front of other dogs, or any other animal, you are triggering the same reaction into your dog. It is important being aware about our behavior when we are close to our dogs.  If you want a balanced and calm dog, you must be a calm and balanced leader to control your Pitbull.

Positive tips and ideas to raise a balanced Pitbull

  1. Always keep calm when you stay around them, dogs perceive an anxious person and they only follow and respect a balanced leader.
  2. Do as much exercise as possible in open spaces to drain energy levels, if Pitbulls do not have an enough amount of exercise, they tend to eat shoes and anything on their way.
  3. Give love, but never let your Pitbull make tantrums, they are dominant so they need to know their place in the pack, and you must be the leader.
  4. Feed your pet properly, twice a day it is a good amount of food, some dogs could become aggressive for lack of food.
  5. To train your Pitbull never kick them, be violent or use objects to infringe pain, they perceive aggression and give back aggression because you are scaring them, you must use only a firm voice and treats.

To sum up if you are thinking about adopting a Pitbull or you already have one to raise, make sure to be a balanced leader in any situation, give them love, do a lot of exercise with them, feed them properly and gain their respect, with that you will have the most loyal friend.
